GLOBAL HORIZONS Export Opportunities Conference

The Global Horizons Export Opportunities Conference provided South Australian exporters and potential exporters with an opportunity to network, learn about foreign markets and current trade issues, access trade assistance and identify new market opportunities. CITCSA members were part of the Expo in the main foyer, and 'talked trade' with attendees, offering expert advice on foreign markets of interest.  


 Minister's Dinner for CITCSA Presidents

Presidents of CITCSA's member chambers of commerce and business councils were honoured by Kevin Foley MP at a special dinner held at Parliament House. Mr Foley showed his appreciation for the presidents' role in providing opportunities for South Australian businesses, and in stimulating the SA economy.

CITCSA Members Forum: The Global Marketing of South Australia

Presented by the South Australian Tourism Commission, this forum launched an international tourism marketing toolkit for South Australia. The program has been designed by the SATC to equip internationally active companies and individuals to sell South Australia overseas. Ms Sigrid Frede, International Operations Manager, and Ms Karen Kent, Distribution Manager, both of the SATC, introduced to guests the initiative which promises to be a key factor in the promotion of South Australia to the world.


 Adelaide Epicurean 2008

Delegates at the 2008 Adelaide Epicurean, hosted by Mr Nick Begakis AM, CITCSA Chairman, and Ms Michelle Hocking, Marketing Manager, Adelaide Showground.

Adelaide Epicurean is South Australia's international trade show for the food/beverage/wine sector. It contributes to the State Food Plan by increasing international awareness visitation and trade for South Australian businesses. The event was held at the Adelaide Showgrounds on the first day of the 2008 Royal Show. The show provided the perfect forum for international trade delegates to experience sensational South Australian produce, meet producers and create trade opportunities.


Business Seminar:  How to Organise a Successful Trade Mission

CITCSA members and guests from the wider business community heard from South Australian trade mission experts on issues such as planning and support available, as well as important outcomes. Speakers were Mr Teo Spiniello, Secretary-General of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Mr Ian Mathison of the Hong Kong Australia Business Council-SA; and Ms Maggie Farrell, Senior Trade Development Manager of the Department of Trade and International Development.    


 Start Your Own Business Workshop presented by AfricomSA and DTED

The Start Your Own Business Workshop, presented by the African Chamber of Commerce SA Inc and the Department of Trade and Economic Development, was aimed at helping the African community in South Australia in starting businesses. Guest speaker, entrepreneur Mr Shane Case, guided participants through the key points necessary for success in business.

In a rare visit to Australia, Mme. Rasmata Kabre revealed to some of the key issues facing Burkina Faso today, and how South Australians can get involved in the nation's development. Mme. Kabre is President of the Business and Professional Women Association Ouagadougou-Burkina Faso, and an influential Burkina personality. Many thanks to AfricomSA (particularly President Francis Elekwachi) for organising the event, and Christelle Damiens of the French Australia Chamber of Commerce and Industry-SA for translating for Mme. Kabre.

Speakers included Mr Stuart Mitchell, Director of Export Solutions talking about EMDG and MAP grant schemes, and Mr David Zundel, Director of InVenture Partners discussing innovation finance options.

'Meet the Ambassadors' is a business seminar series hosted by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and Austrade to provide up-to-date country briefings by Australia's Ambassadors/High Commissioners and Regional Directors/Senior Trade Commissioners to South Australian companies.

DFAT, inconjunction with the Department of Trade and Economic Development (DTED), The Council for International Trade and Commerce SA (CITCSA), the Australia Vietnam Chamber of Commerce SA and Austrade proudly hosted 'Vietnam- A Market of Emerging Opportunity' on July 4, 2007. Esteemed guest speaker, H.E. Mr Bill Tweddell, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, provided a unique perspective on the current state of play in Vietnam, the outlook for this country and the implications of this for key Australian interests and business.


Iran Chamber of Commerce Forum

CITCSA Chairman Nick Begakis AM meets with the Iran Chamber of Commerce

The Australia and Iran Chamber of Commerce & Industries was incorporated in March 2007 in South Australia (Adelaide) after about four months effort by two current members of the board, Mr Hossein Kazemi, the current President, and Mr Masoud Keyhani, the current Treasurer.

This success would have not been possible without the help and cooperation of Mr Barry Salter, the Executive Manager of the Council International Trade and Commerce for South Australia.

This chamber has been established to promote and develop the commercial relationship between Australia and Iran by a strong focus on the private sector.
